Myatts of Mockbeggar

Established in 1993, John and Kim Myatt set up their fruit farming business, Myatt's of Mockbeggar, growing strawberries at Decoy Farm in North Kent.  John’s uncles – Simon and Peter Brice – retired in 2004, when the Myatt’s took on parts of Mockbeggar Farm, making John the 4th generation of his family to farm at Mockbeggar; John’s great grandfather started at Mockbeggar in 1927.

Since then the Myatt’s have continued to expand their soft and stone fruit business, now growing a wide range of fruit supplying high end customers and supermarkets.

We grow: Rhubarb, Raspberries, Blackberries, Cherries, Plums, Apricots & Greengages.

John and Kim’s daughters have now joined the family business, Alex in 2017 and Hannah in 2020, allowing the family to diversify.

Our Aim - to reduce fruit waste

Our main farming business supplies supermarkets with some of
the highest quality fresh fruit in the UK, winning multiple awards. However,
not all is suitable for our customers due to being out of customer specification,
whether that’s because of size, shape or colour. To see tonnes of fruit go to
waste every year, just because of the way it looks, is heart breaking after all
of the effort that goes into producing it. Therefore, we have decided to start
making our surplus fruit into something yummy…starting with Rhubarb Sparkling
Wine.

Other Diversification - Holiday Cottages

We have converted an old barn into 3 beautiful cottages, known as Decoy Farm Holiday Cottages. The cottages are a lovely place to stay on our working fruit farm as we are situated out on the North Kent Marshes, next to the Northwood RSPB Reserve, perfect for you avid bird enthusiast and walkers.

The cottages are short drive from the beautiful historic Rochester, Chatham
Dockyards and easy access to Central London.
