The Happy Pearaccordian title

David and Stephen Flynn are best known as the Happy Pear.

The brothers are identical twins (technically they are mirror twins so, Dave is right handed and right footed and Steve left handed and left footed!). They grew up in Greystones, Co. Wicklow, Ireland the eldest of 4 boys. As identical twins Dave and Steve were super competitive and by the age of 19 they were playing semi-professional rugby, baseball for Ireland and had achieved a 2 & 3 handicap in golf.

After studying business in college, in 2001, aged 21 they went travelling separately to see what else life had on offer. Steve went to Canada to be a snowboard instructor and Dave went to South Africa to become a golf professional. Within a couple of weeks they both independently adopted a plant based eating regime,  gave up alcohol and became interested in spirituality and food.

In 2004, the twin brothers opened a tiny shop in Greystones, with the dream of starting a food revolution to help people eat more veg. Now, more than twenty years later, The Happy Pear consists of their café and shop, 80 products, 7 online courses, 7 cookbooks, a regenerative organic farm, a coffee roastery, and a community of almost 2 million people.

The Happy Pear’s mission remains the same: to get the nation to  become healthier and happier, by living by The Happy Pear’s mantra, Eat Well, Feel Good, Live Better.
